Roundabout was first opened in 1981. The nursery was established in a double fronted terraced property with a large play area. The address is 382/384 Werrington Road Bucknall and was registered for 17 children. It consisted of 2 rooms, kitchen and bathroom on the ground floor.

Mrs Clarke lived in the flat above the nursery until 1983. Due to demand the 1st floor was opened as an extension to the nursery. The older children spent their day upstairs and the children under 2 were based downstairs. Social Services re-registered Roundabout for 45 children. In 1987

Mrs Clarke opened a nursery in Etruria. The Nursery is based on Etruria Vale Road. this was also called roundabout. Social services registered this setting for 60 children.

During the 26 years that Roundabout has been open we have always received good inspection reports from Social Services initially and in later years from Ofsted.

 

In 2001 because of the demand for Out-of School care we applied for N O F funding and were successful. We managed to rent a property but it was in desperate need of repair. We renovated the property with the funding and Roundabout's Out of School and holiday facility was opened. It is called Time -Out.

Ofsted registered Time-Out for 60 children. Time-Out has two very large rooms, a small TV/Quiet room, kitchen, boys and girls toilets and a large grassed playing area. This has been a successful venture and we have lots of happy children and parents.

 

Staff turnover at Roundabout is very low which means that lots of our staff are very experienced and loyal. All staff have a training programme to keep them up to speed.
